Churchill and Sarsden Village Hall The Village Hall was built by the Squire in 1870, as a Reading Room for the use of villagers. After the second world war it was converted into a village hall and the ownership was transferred to a Board of Trustees, who are members of the village community, and have sole responsibility for maintaining and managing the Hall. It is entirely self-financing although the Parish Council takes a lively interest and provides a small grant towards the upkeep of the Hall. It is used by many organisations, including, locally, the Parish Council, the Churchill Playgroup, the Womens' Institute, the Churchill Events Committee, the Cricket Club and the local Parish Church, although the latter does have a small meeting room of its own. Many functions are held here by people who live in our parish and others from outside the villages of Churchill and Sarden. It can provide seated accommodation for up to 70 people at functions such as Wedding Receptions and Birthday Parties. The Hall has been thoroughly updated in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive, the most recent improvements being a toilet for the disabled, a completely new kitchen and catering facility, replacement of the suspended ceiling in the main hall and the provision of double-glazed windows.. If you are interested in using our Hall, you will find that hire costs are very competitive.
